Men's Golf Closes Day One of Furman Intercollegiate in 14th Place

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Led by junior Charlie Bull's round of 73, The University of Akron men's golf team sits in 14th place after round one of the 44th Annual Furman Intercollegiate at the par-72, 6,994-yard Furman University Golf Club.
Bull is one of 13 players that post a round 1-over 73 as the Zips carded a team score of 302 (+14). Ten strokes separate the Zips from sixth place. No. 51 Virginia Teach took the day-one lead with a round of 8-under 280.
Freshman Carr Vernon ended the first round tied for 48th place with a score of 75 (+3) while freshman Louis Birchall and senior Cameron Simmons are tied for 72nd place following rounds of 5-over 77.
Freshman Ryan Harris rounded out the scoring five in a tie for 97th place with a score of 7-over 79.
Round two is slated to begin on Saturday with tee times from the first and tenth tees starting at 8 a.m. ET. Final-round action is scheduled to begin on Sunday morning. Fans can follow all the action via Golfstat Live Scoring.
