AIKEN, S.C. – The University of Akron men's golf team, led by Charlie Bull and Louis Birchall, currently sits in 11th place after 36 holes on Monday at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate.
Bull and Birchall are tied for 30th place with two-round scores of 147 (+7) to help the Zips to a 36-hole tally of 593 (+33). No. 35 South Carolina leads the field at 10-over 570.
Bull and Birchall paced the Zips during the first round, posting scores of 72 (+2) and 71 (+1), respectively. Bull closed the day with a 75 (+5) while Birchall was credited with a 76 (+6).
Carr Vernon sits in a tie for 52nd place heading into the final day with a score of 151 (+11) after posting rounds of 74 (+4) and 77 (+7).
Cameron Simmons and Ryan Harris both struggled during round one with scores of 12-over 82 and 11-over 81, but rebounded nicely for Akron's two lowest scores during the second round. Simmons carded a 1-over 71 to finish tied for 65th (153, +13) while Harris fired a 3-over 73 and is tied for 70th (154, +14).
The 54-hole tournament will conclude tomorrow morning with tee times beginning at 10 a.m. ET from the first and tenth tees.
