Swimming and Diving Travels to Miami RedHawks on Friday for Dual Meet

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron swimming and diving team will travel to Oxford, Ohio on Friday for a dual meet with Miami University, which is set to begin at 4 p.m. ET at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center. Live results will be available through MURedHawks.com.
UA had a competition last week on Jan. 11 against Oakland (Mich.) in Rochester, Mich., where Akron fell to Oakland by a score of 171-122. Amanda Lawson was a standout in the matchup, as she placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Lawson also placed second in the 100 breaststroke, which was a part of a 1-2-3 finish for the Zips. Kendra Colby finished in first place with a time of 1:05.95, while Hannah Raspopovich clocked in at 1:08.09 to finish in third place.
The Zips come into this dual meet with the Miami RedHawks with an overall record of 2-4, whereas the RedHawks hold a 5-1 record. Akron and Miami last matched up in 2012, which resulted in a 171-122 loss for Akron.
This is the second competition of 2013 for both the Akron Zips and Miami RedHawks.
