Men's Golf Concludes Regular Season with Tenth-Place Showing

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Akron men's golf team concluded the 2011-12 regular season with a tenth-place finish on Sunday at the 2012 Boilermaker Invitational on the par-72, 7,465-yard Kampen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
The Zips posted a round of 13-over 301 to finish the event with a 54-hole tally of 53-over 917. Indiana won the event with a score of 877 (+13).
Ryan Mason posted his third-straight top-25 finish, concluding the invitational in a tie for 18th place with a three-round tally of 223 (+7) after carding a round of 74 (+2) on the day.
Cameron Simmons' round of 3-over 75 moved him into a tie for 29th place (227, +11) while Tim Lew moved into a tie for 55th place (235, +19) to finish the event after his 77 (+5) on Sunday.
Charlie Bull and Scott Landreth rounded out the scoring-five in a tie for 59th place with identical 54-hole scores of 20-over 236. Landreth carded his best round of the weekend (75, +3) while Bull finished with a round of 6-over 78.
The Zips are off until May 4 when they travel to Sugar Grove, Ill., for the 2012 Mid-American Conference Championship.
