Men's Golf in 12th Place at Boilermaker Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Akron men's golf sits in 12th place after day one of the 2012 Boilermaker Invitational on the par-72, 7,465-yard Kampen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
The Zips posted rounds of 305 (+17) and 311 (+23) to finish the day with a 36-hole tally of 40-over 616. Mid-American Conference foe Kent State and Iowa are tied atop the leaderboard at 11-over 587.
Ryan Mason led Akron on day one as the lone UA student-athlete in the top-25. Most fired rounds of 3-over 75 and 2-over 74 to finish tied for 22nd place with a two-round total of 149 (+5).
Cameron Simmons is in a group tied for 34th place with a total score of 8-over 152 on Saturday following rounds of 75 (+3) and 77 (+5).
Charlie Bull and Tim Lew, along with two additional players, comprise the group sitting at 14-over 158, good for a tie for 61st place. Bull finished the day with scores of 77 (+5) and 81 (+9), while Lew posted identical rounds of 79 (+7).
Scott Landreth rounded out the scoring five tied for 74th place (161, +17) following rounds of 78 (+6) and 83 (+11).
The tournament will conclude on Sunday with tee times at the first and tenth tees beginning at 8:45 a.m. Fans can catch all of the action live via Golfstat Live Scoring.
