AKRON, Ohio -- The University of Akron women's soccer team plays a pair of Mid-American Conference East Division opponents this weekend. On Friday, the Zips travel to Athens, Ohio to play Ohio at 4 p.m. UA returns home to FirstEnergy Stadium - Cub Cadet Field to take on Kent State Sunday at 1 p.m. in the PNC Wagon Wheel Challenge.

The Match ups ...
• Akron enters the weekend with an overall record of 4-7-0 and a Mid-American Conference mark of 0-4-0 after falling to Northern Illinois (1-0) and Toledo (2-1) in a pair of cross divisional match ups at FirstEnergy Stadium - Cub Cadet Field last weekend.
• Ohio is 6-5-1 on the season and 1-2-1 in the MAC. The Bobcats lost to Miami, 1-0, and tied Ball State, 1-1 in double overtime last weekend. After winning six straight, OU is 0-2-1 in its last three matches.
• Kent State is 6-3-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the MAC. The Golden Flashes host Buffalo on Friday prior to playing Akron on Sunday. KSU beat Ball State (2-0), but lost to Miami (4-2) last weekend.
• The Zips and Ohio will meet for the 12th time overall in women's soccer. Akron's all-time record against the Bobcats is 4-7-0, but the Zips have won the last three meetings in the series, including a 1-0 overtime win last year on Oct. 27, 2011 in Akron.
• Akron and Kent State will be meeting for the 12th time in women's soccer as the two teams have met every year since 2001. Kent State holds a 8-3-0 series advantage against the Zips. After Akron won in 2009 and 2010, the Golden Flashes took last year's match by a 2-0 result in Kent on Oct. 21, 2011. The game is a part of the PNC Wagon Wheel Challenge.
• The Zips are 11-4-1 in MAC East play since 2009 and have qualified for the last three MAC Tournaments.
Scouting the Bobcats …
• Ohio has scored 11 goals and allowed 12 so far this season. Cat Rogers leads the offense with 12 points on five goals and two assists. Holly Harris has two goals and two assists, while Maggie Murnane has two goals and one assist. In goal, Mattie Liston has five shutouts with 67 saves and a 1.02 goals against average.
Scouting the Golden Flashes …
• Kent State has out-scored its opponents 22-12 through 12 games. Jaclyn Dutton a MAC-leading 23 points on 10 goals and three assists. Stephanie Haugh has four goals and a team-best six assists, while Sara Henderson has five helpers. In goal, Stephanie Senn has started 10 games and allowed 10 goals while making 42 saves. She also has three shutouts and a 0.91 goals against average.
Zips to Watch ...
• Senior forward Ashley Hughes has appeared in 62 career matches for the Zips and leads the team in points (11) and goals (4) this season. She is also tied for the team lead with three assists. Hughes scored the equalizing goal last weekend against Toledo.
• Freshman forward Megan Waskowski is second on the team in scoring with nine points on three goals and three assists. Waskowski was named to the all-tournament team at the Tennessee Lady Vol Classic after netting two assists against VCU.
• Like Hughes, senior midfielder Katie Wise has plenty of experience as she has also appeared in 62 career matches. Wise has eight career goals to her credit and assisted Hughes' goal Sunday against Toledo.
• Junior midfielder Kelly DeNiro had a career-high three points on a goal and an assist at Cleveland State. DeNiro was also selected to the all-tournament team at Tennessee.
• Junior midfielder/defender Amber Kern was a second team All-MAC selection in 2011 when she started all 18 games and helped the UA defense notch eight shutouts. Kern has registered two assists thus far in 2012.
Zips in the Record Books ...
• Ashley Hughes is tied for sixth in UA history with nine career goals and she is seventh with 22 career points. She is also tied for sixth with four career game-winning goals and seventh in career shots with 88.
• Kelly DeNiro's eight career assists ranks tied for fifth in Akron women's soccer history. DeNiro is also ninth in career shots (74).
• Katie Wise is 11th in UA history in career scoring with 18 points. Wise's eight career goals is tied for eighth and her five game-winning goals is fifth.
