Women's Soccer Adds Carrel to 2011 Signing Class

The University of Akron women's soccer team has added an additional player to its 2011 signing class, coach Chris Pfau announced today. Brooke Carrel - a defender from Dublin Jerome High School and the Ohio Premier Eagles - will join the program this fall. Carrel scored seven goals and added 15 assists in her career on the Jerome back line and led her team to four district final appearances and two conference championships. The 5-8 back captained an Ohio Premier Eagles squad that won the 2008 Ohio South State Championship and finished tenth in the Elite Clubs National League in 2010.
"I am excited to add Brooke Carrel to our program," said Pfau. "She comes from a great Club in the Ohio Premier Eagles and a very successful high school soccer program at Dublin Jerome. This experience will help her adapt to the college game. She is a strong defender that can get forward and will add depth to our back line."
Carrel joins a 2011 signing class that includes 9 other student-athletes who will join coach Pfau's program this fall.
Women's soccer season tickets (all general admission) are on sale now for $40. Tickets can be purchased through the Akron Athletics Ticket Office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET on Mondays through Fridays by either calling 1-888-99-AKRON (25766) or visiting the ticket window at InfoCision Stadium - Summa Field (located at 375 E. Exchange Street, near Gate 1 at the southwest corner of the venue, at the corner of E. Exchange and S. Union streets).

High School: A four-year varsity letterwinner at Dublin Jerome ... scored 7 goals and tallied 16 assists as a defender during her career ... Jerome was OCC Champs in her Freshman and Sophomore seasons ... her side was a four-time district finalist and compiled a 45-16-8 record over during her career.
Club Soccer: Played for the Ohio Premier Eagles and captained her team in 2008 and 2009 ... OP Eagles were the 2008 Ohio South State Champions, a 2009 and 2010 Ohio South Finalist. and a 2010 Regional Finalist ... in 2010 the club finished 10th in the Elite Clubs National League.
Personal: Born May 8, 1993 in Columbus, Ohio ... daughter of Bruce and Jannine Carrel ... has one brother, Brad.
