McNamara Leads Zips at Day One of Zone Diving Champs

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The University of Akron swimming and diving program was represented by four divers in day one of the NCAA Zone Diving Championships at Ohio State University on Thursday. Freshman Carla McNamara topped the Zips finishers with a 17th-place showing in the 3-meter springboard.
McNamara qualified into the finals of the day's only event with a preliminary 6-dive score of 262.5. The Livonia, Mich. native then compiled a 6-dive score of 276.45 in the finals to finish in 17th. Leeanna Hoover took 27th place with a preliminary score of 241.80. Jayne Malloy and Amanda Angeloff rounded out the Akron finishes, taking 33rd and 37th respectively.
The Zone Championships will continue tomorrow with the 1-meter springboard competition.
