Women's Soccer Adds Signee to 2010 Class
March 09 | Women's Soccer
AKRON, Ohio - University of Akron head women's
soccer coach Chris Pfau announced the
addition of Maggie
Rusnak (Canton, Ohio/Jackson HS) to the program's 2010 signing
class on Tuesday.
Rusnak joins a group of nine student-athletes who signed a national
letter of intent to play for the program back in February and she
will be one of 11 new players on UA's roster this season, including
the transfer of Kara Cooper from Youngstown State during the
winter.
"I'm so pleased Maggie has chosen the University of Akron" Pfau
said. "Maggie comes with an excellent playing background and she
will undoubtedly add even more competition for playing time come
the fall. It's great to add such a fine, local player to our
squad."
Rusnak brings with her an impressive playing resume. She competes
in club soccer for regional and national powerhouse Cleveland
Internationals and has been an integral member of Jackson High
School and Ohio North's Olympic Development program.
Rusnak is the sixth member of the signing class to hail from the
state of Ohio, to go along with one each from Nevada, New Jersey,
New York and Pennsylvania - Taylor
Ballard (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls HS), Kelly
DeNiro (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson HS), Amber
Kern (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman HS), Holly
Walton (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne HS), Emily
White (Richfield, Ohio/Revere HS), Alex
Luevano-Harden (Las Vegas, Nev./Arbor View HS), Kyarah
Foushee (Union, N.J./Union HS), Gillian
Gross (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow HS), and Paige
Foughty (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin HS). (read more about Akron's 2010 signing class)
UA's 2009 season proved to be the most successful in the team's
nine-year history, closing out the campaign with its highest-ever
finish in the Mid-American Conference - which tied for second place
overall (7-3-1 MAC record) in the league standings and made the
Zips East Division champions (5-0-0 divisional record).
