Men's Golf Travels South For Ironwood Pirate Intercollegiate

AKRON, Ohio -The University of Akron men's golf team will venture south this weekend to take part in the second-annual Ironwood Pirate Intercollegiate hosted by East Carolina University at the Ironwood Golf and Country Club.

Joining the Zips and Pirates in the 17-team field will be Boston College, Furman, Georgetown, James Madison, Longwood, Navy, Newberry, Presbyterian, Radford, Rhode Island, St. John's, Samford, Seton Hall, UNC Wilmington and Wofford.

The Zips are coming off a 13th place finish at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate hosted by Alabama State University. Freshman standout, Tim Lew, led UA in the event carding 76-74-75 (225) on the par-72 course.

Teams are scheduled to tee-off beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Friday with the final group scheduled to tee-off at noon. The second round is set for Saturday with final round play scheduled for Sunday morning.
