Men's Golf Travels South for Palmetto Intercollegiate

AKRON, Ohio - After a week off, the University of Akron men's golf team will travel to Aiken, S.C. Monday for the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, which is part of the Cleveland Golf Collegiate Championship series. The two-day event is held at the Palmetto Golf club.
Hosted by the University of South Carolina Aiken, this will be the second consecutive year Akron has attended the tournament. UA finished 13th last season carding a 930 on the par-70, 6,565 yard course.
The Zips are coming off a a 20th place finish at the UCF/Rio Pinar Intercollegiate (Feb. 23-24) where they were led by freshman Scott Landreth (Stratford, Ontario/St. Michaels Catholic) who carded a 225 (78-77-70), tying for the 58th spot in the two-day, 56-hole tournament.
The USC Aiken golf team will enter the 2009 season as the No. 1
team in the nation according to the first Golf World/Nike NCAA
Division II Coaches' Poll of the spring season. The Pacers also
concluded the fall of 2008 as the No. 1 team in the nation
according to the poll.
