Carter Places 12th at the NCAA Zone Meet

Columbus, Ohio-The Zips sent two divers to the NCAA Zone C Diving Qualifying meet this weekend with junior Katie Carter placing 12th for Akron on the 1-meter springboard Friday.

The top-18 divers in the preliminary round advanced to the finals this afternoon and Carter 's six-dive preliminary score of 236.85 advanced her to the final round where she scored a 263.55. Freshman Amanda Angeloff posted a 204.95 on the day placing 32nd overall.

This weekend's meet being held at Ohio State's Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion is just one of five zone meets taking place with divers at each site vying for the chance to compete at their respective 2008 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships which will be held March 20-22 on the campus of Ohio State University.

Carter and Angeloff will have one more chance to qualify for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships tomorrow afternoon when they compete in the 3-meter springboard event. The first dive is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. (EST).
