Carter and Angeloff Head to NCAA Diving Zones
March 13 | Women's Swimming & Diving
-Junior Katie Carter and freshman Amanda
Angeloff will look to qualify for the 2008 NCAA Women's
Swimming and Diving Championship meet when they compete at the NCAA
Zone C Diving Qualifying Meet on March 14-15 on the campus of the
Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
Carter and Angeloff will begin the weekend with the 1-meter
competition beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Friday before wrapping up the
weekend with the 3-meter event at the same time on Saturday.
Approximately 90 divers from 24 schools will compete.
On the boards this season, Carter led Akron ending the regular
season with six first place finishes and three-second place
finishes on both the 1- and 3-meter springboards. At the recent
Mid-American Conference Championship, Carter finished third in the
1-meter diving posting a 290.85, a season best. She finished
seventh on the 3-meter springboard finishing with 254.60 points.
She also enters the meet fresh off her second Academic All-MAC
honor, the only current Zips swimming and diving member to have
earned it twice.
Angeloff also enters with an impressive resume after she posted a
collegiate career high zone qualifying score of 298.95 in the dual
meet against Bowling Green (Jan. 19). The Zips top freshman of the
season, she posted a ninth place finish in the 1-meter (224.40) and
14th place on the 3-meter (232.30) springboard at the MAC
championships.
The meet this weekend is just one of five zone meets taking place
with divers at each meet vying for the chance to compete at their
respective 2008 NCAA championships. The 2008 NCAA Women's Swimming
and Diving Championships will be held March 20-22 at Ohio State's
McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
