Day Three Prelims of Zippy Invitational Complete

Akron, Ohio-The University of Akron women's
swimming and diving team had a solid round of preliminaries this
morning at the Ocasek Natatorium placing at least one swimmer in
each of the individual events for finals this afternoon set to
begin at 4:00 p.m. EST.
The Zips will send three swimmers to both the 200-yard breaststroke
and 200-yard butterfly finals. Leading the way in the breaststroke
will be junior Cheri Baratto who swam a 2:29.13 this morning
earning a spot in the third heat. Freshman Julie
Reynolds who has had an outstanding weekend set another
personal best on the weekend. She swam a 2:30.95 this morning in
the breaststroke event shaving more than two seconds off her
previous time of 2:32.99. Joining her teammates will be freshman Jasmine
Craft who will run in the first heat (2:32.89).
In the 200-yard butterfly two UA swimmers will swim in the third
heat. Sophomore Lauren Parr and junior Emily
Bulkowski had qualifying times of 2:10.66 and 2:11.81 during
preliminaries. Joining them in the finals will be sophomore Kylie
Bombrys swimming in the second heat (2:15.90).
After posting a 2:09.19 in the preliminary round of the 200-yard
backstroke sophomore Kendall Karchner earned her spot in the
third heat.
In the 100-yard freestyle will be sophomore Stephanie
Zielinski who swam the preliminaries in 53.68. She qualified
for the second heat of finals.
Tonight's events will also showcase the men's and women's
1,650-yard freestyle finals and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
