Volleyball freshman Jess Antosz has been named Mid-American
Conference East Division Player of the Week for the second time
this season, the league office announced Monday.
Antosz (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler Area) was brilliant at the net against
Miami and Bowling Green, two of the best offensive teams in the
conference, last weekend with 12 blocks, including eight solo
rejections. On top of that, the true freshman was the most
efficient UA player on offense with 25 kills and a fine hitting
percentage of .357. Her 36.0 points for the weekend led the
team.
Antosz turned in her most complete performance of the year with 15
kills, compared to just one error, in 25 attempts for a whopping
.560 hitting percentage, six digs and eight blocks in a four-game
setback to Miami Friday night. She followed that up with 10 kills,
four solo blocks and a pair of digs against Bowling Green
Saturday.
Antosz is currently ranked second in the conference with 1.15
blocks per game and leads the Zips with a .264 hitting percentage.
She was also named MAC East Division Player of the Week on Sept.
10.
The 10th-seeded Zips (10-19, 2-14 MAC) will open the first round of
the MAC Tournament Tuesday night at No. 7 Eastern Michigan (18-13,
