Women's Soccer Plays Miami To Scoreless Tie
October 06 | Women's Soccer
AKRON, Ohio The University of Akron women's soccer team played Miami (Ohio) to a double-overtime scoreless tie on Friday night at Lee Jackson Field. Both the Zips and the RedHawks moved their records in Mid-American Conference play to 1-1-1.
The match statistics were basically even as well, with Miami (3-4-3) taking 13 shots (seven on goal), compared to 10 (five on goal) by Akron (6-2-3). The Zips had a few opportunities during the second half to get on the scoreboard, but were unable to convert. Jordan Clark (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights HS) had the best chance, knocking the ball off of the crossbar in the 50th minute.
Akron goalkeeper Krystin Wilson (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson HS) recorded her fifth shutout of the season and 16th of her career, extending the school record she established in that category last season. Wilson's seven saves against Miami ties her for the most in a career at Akron, with 172. She shares that mark with Meghan McCarthy (2001-04).
Krista Pace had five saves for the RedHawks.
Akron returns to the field on Sunday to face off against Ball
State at 1 p.m. EDT. That game concludes a four-match homestand for
the Zips.
