Elliot Bradbrook Honored by MAC

AKRON University of Akron's Elliot
Bradbrook, a senior on the nationally-ranked men's soccer team,
was named the Mid-American Conference Male Student-Athlete of the
Week, the league announced today. Bradbrook (Kent, England) carries
a 3.858 GPA in history.
The midfielder/defender helped the Zips defeat Penn State and Bowling Green and climb as many as five spots in the national rankings, topping out at 16th in two polls. Bradbrook was also key in the Zips posting six straight shutouts. In fact, neither Penn State nor Bowling Green had a shot on goal, while combining for just 15 shots in the two matches. On senior day at Lee Jackson Field, Bradbrook additionally spurred the Zip offense in the 4-0 victory over Bowling Green. He scored the first goal of the match, which proved to be the game winner, then assisted on UA's third goal of the match.
This is the second time Bradbrook has been honored by the MAC this season. Earlier (Sept. 17), he was named MAC Soccer Player of the Week, once again leading Akron to a pair of victories. In a 2-1 win over nationally-ranked UIC, Bradbrook scored the game winner in the 82nd minute, while assisting on the first goal of the match. He added another goal later in the week versus St. Francis.
Bradbrook was not the only Zips recognized this week as fellow senior defender Corey Sipos was named to three national Teams of the Week, including the College Soccer News, Soccer America and Top Drawer Soccer.
The Zips are at Buffalo today (Friday) in a key battle of unbeaten teams. Akron is 2-0-1 while the Bulls are 3-0-0. Match time is set for 7 pm at UB Stadium.
