Golf Hits the Road for Wolverine Intercollegiate

- Coming off of a ninth-place finish at the Rich Harvest Farms
Intercollegiate last week, the University of Akron golf team will
return to the links this weekend at the Wolverine Intercollegiate
in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Zips will play a double round on Saturday starting at 8:30
a.m. EDT with the final round action set to being at 8:30 a.m. on
Sunday morning.
Joining the Zips on the course will be the host Michigan,
Missouri, Oregon State, Iowa, Eastern Michigan, Kansas State,
Wisconsin, Western Illinois, Ball State, Penn State, Northern
Illinois, Furman and Miami of Ohio.
The par-71, 6,704 yard course consist of three par-5 holes, 11
par-4 holes and four par-3 holes. The front nine (par 36) measures
3,377 yards with the back half of the course covering 3,327
yards.
Senior Blake Sattler (New
Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia HS), who is coming off of a
medical redshirt season in 2005, led Akron with an 11th-place
finish (227 -72-78-77) last weekend and has now finished in the
top-15 in seven out of his last eight events. Teammate Ryan
Gutowski (Copley, Ohio/Copley HS) ended one stroke back of
Sattler as he tallied 228 (81-72-75) strokes and ended the
tournament in a tie for 13th place.
