Baseball Game Against Duquesne Canceled

Akron, Ohio - The University of Akron baseball team's home opener against Duquesne University has been canceled due to near freezing conditions expected for Tuesday afternoon. The Zips (5-12), who have played their first 17 games of the season on the road, were looking to end a current 11-game losing streak with the start of a four-game home stand at Lee Jackson Field.

Akron will open its 2006 Mid-American Conference schedule on Friday, March 24 when the Zips play host to Ball State University. The three-game series will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday, then continue with games on Saturday and Sunday, both starting at 1 p.m.
