AKRON, Ohio (AP) - Reserve Rob Preston and Romeo Travis each scored 16 points to lead Akron to a 75-53 victory over Western Michigan on Wednesday night.
The victory was the 15th home win in a row for the Zips (17-5, 10-2 Mid-American Conference).
Nick Dials added 11 points - hitting all three of his 3-point attempts - for Akron, which is off to its best start since joining Division I in 1980-81.
Stane's Bufford and Joe Reitz each scored 10 points for Western Michigan (9-13, 6-6).
The Zips built a 40-25 halftime lead by hitting 8-of-11 3-pointers. They had a higher field-goal percentage behind the arc (.727) than inside of it (.421).
Akron led by as many as 22 points in the second half, holding the Broncos without a field goal for the final 4:40. Western shot just 24 percent from the field (6 of 25) in the second half.
