As a senior in 2001, Derr was a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award. That same year he went 30-for-30 on extra points and made 15-of-18 field goals for a team-leading 75 points. He also earned second-team All-Mid-American Conference honors as a senior.
Derr was an Academic All-MAC selection as a sophomore, junior, and senior.
Additionally as a senior, he was a nominee for the MAC’s Vern Smith Award.
