Punter
Billy Rudison earned a letter at the University of Pittsburgh before transferring to Akron, but made an immediate impact at Akron in 1987 by averaging 40.3 yards on 74 punts, with a long of 71.
He set an all-time UA record when he averaged 49.6 yards on eight punts versus Louisville.
In 1988 Rudison ranked sixth in the NCAA I-A with a 43.3 average on 58 punts. He had 29 punts of 50 yards or better, three traveled 62 yards and 37 of his kicks were downed inside the 20 yard line, which earned him Honorable Mention All-America honors. He recorded a 38.9 average on 63 punts in ’89. That senior season Rudison established and still holds two single-game records with 13 punts for 613 yards against Virginia Tech in which he averaged 47.8 yards.
