Golf

The Akron native first showed his love for golf at a young age by hitting dozens of shag golf balls back and forth on his parents two-acre lot. From the backyard to the greens, Edwards ranks as one of the finest golfers ever at The University of Akon and became the first from his sport to be indicted into the Hall of Fame. During his four-year varsity career (1959-62), Edwards compiled an impressive 45-9-2 dual match mark. Playing at the Firestone Country Club, he led his team to an Ohio Conference Championship in 1961. In that same year, he shot the lowest round ever by a UA player with a 65. Tim was the main thrust behind UA’s 24-match win streak over the 1961-62 season. In his last 39 collegiate matches, he amassed a 35-2-2 won-loss record while finishing out with a four-year composite average of 74 strokes per round. Edwards involvement with the sport continued well after his graduation in 1963. He went on to win nine Fairlawn Country Club Championships as well as numerous other area tournaments. Edwards was vice president of the Fairlawn Country Club Board Directors and was active in the World Series of Gold Tournament and the Akron District Gold Association. Tim is president and part-owner of the advertising firm Loos, Edwards and Sexauer, Inc. He and his wife, Cheryl, have four children and reside in Akron.
