This Hall of Famer, who helped launch UA women’s athletics on the varsity level, becomes only the second female inducted but, the first Lady Zip. Sue Davis participated four years in both volleyball and basketball from 1972-76. She led the first varsity (1964) volleyball team in in scoring with 87 points and was voted the sports’ first most Valuable Player. She also excelled in basketball and still holds six school records; Most points in a single game—38. Most field goals scored—16; Most field goal attempts—32; Best free-throw percentage—8 of 8 (100%); Most consecutive free throws—14; and has the highest scoring average in a season—21.3. As a senior she earned the MVP Award. Davis has gone on to excel as a coach in both volleyball and basketball at Canton McKinley High School. She directed the Bulldogs to State Volleyball Championships in 1983 and 1987 and was State Runner-up in basketball in 1984.
