All-American (1999) … three-time NCAA Division I All-Great Lakes Region selection (1996, ’97, ’99) … holds the record for most career home runs (57) and RBI (167) … stands in the top two spots in the books for home runs in a single season with 19 in 1999 and 16 in 1996 … second in career walks with 87 and career hits with 207.

Kelli Metzger lettered four years as a catcher for The University of Akron softball team (1996-99), ending a record-setting career by being named All-America during her senior year.
A three-time NCAA Division I All-Great Lakes Region pick (1996, ’97, ’99), Metzger holds the school record for most career home runs (57) and RBI (167), and stands in the top-two spots in the record book for home runs in a single season, with 19 in 1999 and 16 in 1996.
She ranks second in program history in career walks with 87 and career hits with 207. Her 205 career games played and 598 at-bats both rank in the program’s top 10.
A first-team All-MAC selection in 1996 and ‘97, Metzger was named one of UA’s top-40 female athletes as part of its celebration of the 40th anniversary of Title IX during the 2012-13 academic year.
Following her collegiate career, Metzger competed for two years for the National Pro Fastpitch Akron Racers (1999 and 2005). In 2005, the club won the league’s World Series.
Annually, she runs a clinic for the Canton Challenger Baseball League for handicapped children.
