1916-20
Bruce “Scotty” Bierce was a star end on three of Fred Sefton’s earliest football teams (1916, 1917, 1919).
With time out for wartime service in 1918, Bierce was an All-Ohio selection at end in 1919.
A highly regarded as a catcher, he also played Akron baseball in 1917 and 1920, captaining team in 1920.
Bierece competed and lettered in track in 1918 and 1920.
Joined the Akron Pros in the American Professional Football Association in 1920 and was starting end opposite famous Nasty Bob Nash on the unbeaten, unscored-on Pros which won the championship with a record of 11 victories and two scoreless ties.
A successful Akron attorney, Bierce was a charter inductee (1957) into the Summit County Sports Hall of Fame.
