Jordan Armstrong enters his fourth season at Akron in 2019. He joined the Akron volleyball coaching staff prior to the 2016 season.

Armstrong works primarily with setters, middles, right sides, and blocking. He also focuses on the team’s in match offense and data project software. In addition to his on-court training duties, he also manages Akron’s recruiting database, develops scouting reports, and organizes and runs the Akron Zips Volleyball Camps each summer.
In his first season, Armstrong helped coach Elya Karsner, who was named to the All-MAC Freshman Team.
Prior to Akron, in the spring of 2016, Armstrong served as the Volunteer Assistant Coach with IPFW men’s volleyball where he focused on being the technical coordinator for video, data project software, scouting reports, and working with the team’s setters and offense. He also assisted with team travel and team administration.
Armstrong was also the Volunteer Assistant Coach of the University of Kentucky women’s volleyball program, in the fall of 2015, where he assisted in the development and training of setters, middle blockers and opposites. He was also responsible for coding opponent matches, preparing scouting reports and charting the team's offense in match.

During his tenure at these universities, Armstrong coached a total of four AVCA All- American Honorable Mention Selections. In October 2015, he was also chosen as the recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Minority Award.

Armstrong has been involved in numerous elite volleyball camps throughout the country. Over the past four summers, he has been selected to work within the USA Volleyball High Performance Program as an Assistant Coach. Additionally, in 2018 & 2019 Armstrong served as the Ohio Valley Region’s Head Coach for the Girl’s Select High Performance Team which competed at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships. His 2019 team won Gold in the National Select Division.

A four-year letterwinner for Indiana University - Purdue University, Fort Wayne (IPFW), playing for AVCA Hall of Fame Coach Arnie Ball, Armstrong set a career-high with 59 assists and five digs at Belmont Abbey as a senior. As a setter for the Mastodons, Armstrong was on a team that ranked as high as No. 9 in the AVCA rankings and was a four-year MIVA Academic All-Conference selection.

He was selected to be a team captain as a senior and earned the David R. Skelton Award as well as the Student-Athlete Sportsmanship Award.

Armstrong graduated from IPFW in May of 2015 with a degree in business marketing-management with a minor in communication studies. He also completed a graduate degree from The University of Akron in 2018 in Sport Science with a focus in Administration.
