Adam Plyler serves as the General Manager of Ticket Sales and Operations for the University of Akron Athletics, where he oversees the department's ticket sales strategy, customer service, and operations.
Before joining Akron, Adam built a successful career in professional sports, most recently serving as Director of Ticket Sales and Service for the Lake Erie Crushers of the Frontier League. During his tenure, the organization reached new revenue milestones, increasing season ticket revenue for the 2026 season by more than 146% while significantly growing group sales. Through strategic planning and aggressive business development, picnic areas for the weekend home games from June through August were sold out before Opening Day, creating unprecedented demand for Crushers baseball.
Prior to his time with the Crushers, Adam spent nearly three successful seasons with the Reno Aces, the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. He most recently served as Manager of Business Development, helping lead the organization to record-breaking revenue in both season ticket memberships and group sales. During his time in Reno, the Aces consistently achieved new sales benchmarks while enhancing the fan experience through innovative ticketing initiatives and premium hospitality offerings.
Adam is excited to bring his successful minor league sports background to the collegiate level and is passionate about helping the University of Akron Athletics continue to grow its fan base, strengthen community partnerships, and create memorable game-day experiences for students, alumni, and supporters.
A native of New Castle, Pennsylvania, Adam graduated from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in Journalism. Before beginning his career in professional sports, he developed his sales expertise in the automotive industry at a dealership in Huntington, West Virginia. He also has an extensive background in broadcast journalism, serving as News Director at WDTV in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
Outside of work, Adam enjoys spending time with his wife, Clare, and their son, Arnold. He is an avid golfer and passionate Pittsburgh sports fan. One of his favorite accomplishments away from the office is visiting 22 of Major League Baseball's 30 active ballparks, with the goal of eventually seeing a game in every stadium.
