Bex Freebairn is in her first season as the assistant swimming coach of The University of Akron Women’s Swimming and Diving program. Bex arrived in Akron just in time to help the Zips secure their 8^th Mid-American Conference team title in program history. Prior to joining the Zips, Freebairn spent a year as the head coach of Swim Waipa in Cambridge, New Zealand. During that time she was selected as coach of the National Regional Development Squad for Swim Waikato. Bex was the Assistant Coach at Washington State University (2018-20) and Indiana State (20016-18).

Freebairn earned her Bachelor’s of Sport Coaching Degree while majoring in Strength and Conditioning from the University of Canterbury (N.Z.) in 2015. Freebairn earned her Masters of Coaching at Indiana State in 2018.
