Kyle Cochrun is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Akron Track and Field program working with the men's distance runner.
A three-time Mid-American Conference champion for the Zips from 2011-15, Cochrun captured league titles in the 3,000-meters (2014 Indoor) and 5,000-meters (2014 Indoor/2014 Outdoor). He was named the MAC Most Valuable Performer at the 2014 Indoor Championships after leading the Zips to a team title with victories in the 3,000 and 5,000 meters, respectively.
Additionally, he garnered second-team All-MAC honors in the 3,000 and 5,000 meters during the 2015 Indoor Championship as well as during cross country in 2014.
A two-time Academic All-MAC (2014 and 2015 Outdoor) selection, he is the school record holder in indoor 3,000 (8:06.22) and 5,000 meters (14:16.69) as well as the outdoor 5,000 meters.
Cochrun earned a his bachlor's degree in English from Akron in the fall of 2015.
