Scott Scalf is in his fifth season on the Akron softball staff as a volunteer assistant coach after spending 14 years coaching locally at the high school level at Archbishop Hoban High School and Crestwood High School.
Scalf, a veteran of the United States Air Force, has coached youth softball for 25 years. He has mentored more than 10 student-athletes that have gone on to play Division I collegiate softball. Specializing in outfield, base running and short-game offense, Scalf has also coached several competitive travel teams.
Scalf holds certifications from the Positive Coaching Association, American Coaching Academy and the University of Notre Dame “Play Like a Champion Today” coaches program. He was employed at Americhem Inc. in Cuyahoga Falls for 21 years, and holds a business management technology certificate from the University of Akron, where he is currently pursuing a degree in social services.
