As a Junior (2016-17): Scholastic All-American … averaged a 542 in the smallbore half course 3x20 on the season … recored a career-best (562) against Morehead in the smallbore competition … in air rifle, averaged a 569 on the season … shot a career-best 577 at the Great American Rifle Championship.

As a Sophomore (2015-2016): Named to the 2016-17 CRCA Scholastic All-American team … averaged a 548 in smallbore half course 3x20 … in the 60 shot air rifle, averaged a 566 for the season … shot a season- high score of 575 in 60 shot air rifle at the OSU Qualifier (Feb. 20) and a season-high score of 568 in smallbore against Morehead (Feb. 13).

As a Freshman (2014-15): Averaged 551 in Smallbore Half Course 3X20…in the 60 Shot Air Rifle, averaged a 562 on the year…shot a season-high score of 560 in Smallbore and a season-high score of 572 in 60 Shot Air Rifle in the season opener against Navy (Oct. 4)…finished ninth in both Smallbore (550) and 60 Shot Air Rifle (569) against WVU (Feb. 21)

Prior to Akron: Competed with the Valley Stream District Rifle team … as a team they won the state and county championships in 2011-13 … in 2013, the squad broke the state and county record for Air Rifle … won the individual Air Rifle county championship in 2014 … captured second place in the New York State Air Rifle championship … as a first year varsity athlete he set the highest average in Smallbore en route to breaking the record for Air Rifle in 2013 … competed with the P.A.L. Rifle Club for four years.

Personal: Son of Susan and Michael Mantel … has a younger sister, Kaitlyn … criminal justice major.
