In two seasons in the Blue and Gold, Murray broke the school record for career scoring average (73.70) over 71 rounds played. He was a two-time Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar the Golf Coaches Association of American (GCAA) (2010 and 2011) as well as a second-team All-MAC and an Academic All-MAC performer as a senior (2010-11). For his career, he finished with one victory, seven top-10 and 16 top-25 finishes in 25 events.
As a senior, he competed in all 12 tournaments, posting a team-best average of 74.11, finishing the season ranked in the top-100 nationally in fewest three-putt holes/round (80th, 0.74) and fewest putts/round (97th, 30.10). He helped the Zips defeat seven Golfstat Top-100 teams at the Illini Spring Classic (April 16-17, 2011) with a tie for 18th place.
During his junior campaign, Murray nearly broke the season scoring average with his 73.11 average. He won the Xavier Invitational (Oct. 5-6, 2009) with a 10-under 206, the lowest tournament of his career.
Before joining the Zips in 2009, Murray spent two seasons at Mount Union. He was named a Division III PING All-American and All-OAC and finished 38th at the NCAA Championships as a sophomore while earning Division III PING All-American honors as a freshman as well. He went on to finish tied for seventh at the NCAA DIII National Championship as a freshman.
Murray, a local product, graduated from Canton South High School in Canton, Ohio. He is a 2011 graduate of Akron with a degree in corporate financial management.
