as a Junior (2005): Started 12 of 13 games at left tackle ... voted to the Academic All-MAC team ... part of an offensive line that produced a 1,000-yard rusher (Brett Biggs), the first UA back to top 1,000 yards since Bobby Hendry in 2002 ... also provided excellent protection for quarterback Luke Getsy, allowing him to throw for 3,455 yards, while surrendering just 1.6 sacks per game, third lowest total in the MAC ... aided UA in becoming the 31st team in NCAA history with a 1,000-yard passer, 1,000-yard receiver and 1,000-yard rusher in a season ... tabbed preseason second-team all-conference by Lindy’s ... earned the team’s Touchdown Club Trophy as the most valuable lineman.
as a Sophomore (2004): Started all 11 games at left tackle ... part of an offensive line that allowed RB Brett Biggs to total 871 yards on the ground en route to second-team All-MAC honors ... opened holes to allow Biggs to run for 195 yards in a 35-23 win over Ball?State (Oct. 23) ... helped the running game net 1,070 yards in 379 carries, including a combined 724 yards in the final six contests ... also protected quarterback Charlie Frye as he threw for 2,623 and was named second-team All-MAC.
as a Redshirt Freshman (2003): An Academic All-MAC selection ... started 11 games at left tackle ... opened holes for backs as Akron ran for more than 150 yards in eight contests and paved the way for seven 100-yard rushing performances (six by Bobby Hendry/one by Jerell Ringer) ... protected quarterback Charlie Frye who threw for a school-record 3,549 yards and set the Akron career mark with 8,426 ... also helped allow Frye to throw for a school-record 22 touchdowns ... part of an offensive line that allowed just one sack three times in the season (at Buffalo, Sept. 27; vs. UCF, Oct. 18; at Marshall, Nov. 1).
