As a Senior (2015): Academic All-MAC … John Heisman Award … preseason second-team All-MAC by Athlon Sports, third-team by College Sports Madness, and fourth-team All-MAC by Phil Steele … started all 13 games on the offensive line … 11 starts were at left guard and two at right guard … one of 12 Zips to start every game … also played on the field goal unit … all five starters combined for 116 starting nods between them … Akron’s run blocking and pass protection schemes elevated the offensive production this season … the Zips averaged 164.8 yards per game on the ground, 41.1 yards better than last season … the Zips rushed for 2,143 total yards, exceeding year’s season total of 1,484 (after just 10 games) … the O-Line allowed eight fewer sacks.
As a Junior (2014): Appeared in nine games with seven starts at left guard ... in the 41-0 win over Howard, the O-line gave up no sacks.
As a Sophomore (2013): Started all 12 games for the Zips at right guard.
As a Redshirt Freshman (2012): Played in all 12 games on the offensive line, logging five starts ... member of a front line that supported an offense ranked first in the Mid-American Conference and 16th nationally in passing (312.8 ypg), and sixth in the league and 45th in the country in total offense (427.2 ypg).
As a Freshman (2011): Redshirted.
High School: All-Ohio Third Team honoree as a senior at Green HS ... starter on the defensive line as a sophomore and junior ... starter on the offensive line as senior ... recorded 44 tackles and 11 sacks ... also blocked one field goal and a pair of point-after attempts as a senior ... ranked the ninth-best DT in the state of Ohio by JJ Huddle after his junior year ... Scouting Ohio Top 100 ... invited to play in the North-South game and Big 33 game ... as a senior named All-Suburban League, All-Northeast Inland All-District, and third-team All-State.
Personal: Born Nov. 20, 1992 ... son of Dean and Debra Brumbaugh ... has one younger brother, Dustin … earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management in May 2015 … pursuing a master’s degree in sport science.
