Tre’ Bell is in his second season as assistant coach and cornerbacks coach for University of Akron head coach Joe Moorhead in 2023.
Bell spent the 2021 season as a graduate assistant on defense for Florida State, where he coached First-Team All ACC Defensive Back Jammie Robinson.
Bell came to Tallahassee after two seasons as a graduate assistant under Moorhead and Mike Leach at Mississippi State, where he helped the Bulldogs advance to bowl games in both years. True freshman Emmanuel Forbes earned Freshman All-America honors in 2020 after leading the SEC with five interceptions and ranking first nationally with three interception return touchdowns. Bell also helped develop Cameron Dantzler, who was a third-round pick by Minnesota in the 2020 NFL Draft.
His first coaching opportunity was as a quality control coach working with defensive backs at Eastern Kentucky in 2018 where he mentored All-OVC First-Team defensive back Leodis Moore III (2018) as well as Second-Team All-OVC cornerback Cornelius Floyd (2018).
He began his collegiate career at Vanderbilt, spending three seasons with the Commodores out of high school. After redshirting in 2013, he appeared in 20 games over the 2014 and 2015 seasons and recorded 33 tackles. Bell then transferred to UConn and, after sitting out the 2016 season due to transfer rules at the time, appeared in all 12 games with eight starts his senior year, recording 49 tackles, one interception, two pass breakups and three forced fumbles.
Bell earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Connecticut in 2018 and a master’s in education from Mississippi State in 2020.
