Made two moves for his senior season during the spring ... First, moved from wearing #28 to #1 ... Second, moved to his more natural position, cornerback, with the departure of Reggie Corner and Davanzo Tate.
Junior (2007): Battled a season-long foot injury, but still played in all 12 games, mostly at strong safety as backup to Chevin Pace ... Compiled 17 tackles on the year ... Opened the season with four tackles, including three solos stops and a seven-yard sack, versus Army ... Added a pass breakup as well ... Closed the season with three stops and a PBU versus Central Michigan ... Over a five-game span in the middle of the year, had two stops each versus Connecticut, Western Michigan, Temple and Bowling Green.
Sophomore (2006): Saw action in all 12 games, getting six starting assignments ... Recorded 27 tackles on the season, including 19 solo stops ... Tallied four tackles in Akron’s upset win at North Carolina State, a game where he earned his first career starting assignment ... Picked off his second career pass in a win over North Texas ... After that contest, reeled off three straight games (Kent State, Cincinnati and Miami) with four stops ... Also in the Cincinnati contest, had his first career forced fumble.
Freshman (2005)F: Appeared in all 13 games as a reserve cornerback and a special teams player ... Served as the third cornerback through most of the season ... Tallied 22 tackles, 16 of which were solo ... Had a season-high four tackles (two solo) in Akron’s 31-30 victory over Northern Illinois in the MAC Championship game ... Recorded three solo tackles in the Zips’ first meeting with NIU, a 48-42 overtime victory on Sept. 24 ... Picked off his first career pass vs. Central Michigan ... Also saw action as part of the Zips’ kickoff squad .... Enrolled in January 2005 and participated in spring drills.
Prior to Akron: Played one semester at Hargrave Military Academy, posting 40 tackles and three interceptions ... At Pulaski HS: A three-year starter at defensive back and two-year starter at running back ... A first-team all-district choice at RB and DB in his junior and senior seasons... Earned all-region honors as a senior at running back, defensive back and kick returner ... Rushed for over 1,200 yards as a senior, while recording 55 tackles and three interceptions ... Secured all-region accolades at DB as a junior ... Also rushed for over 900 yards that season and recorded 330 receiving yards at wide receiver ... A three-year letterman on the track team ... Finished second in the state in the long jump as a senior ... Took part in five events at the 2004 state meet ... Also played basketball for four years, securing all-district and all-region honors as a senior and all-district accolades as a junior.
