STEM Education Through Basketball

The University of Akron women's basketball team has partnered with the University of Akron's School of Sport Science and Wellness Education to host the third annual STEM Education Basketball Clinic on Saturday, February 1.

The clinic is open to the first 50 girls in grades 5-8.

The price to attend the clinic hosted by the Zips and School of Sport Science and Wellness Education is $15, which includes the clinic, lunch, t-shirt, and a ticket to the Zips contest against Eastern Michigan that afternoon at 2 p.m.

The program will feature a skills clinic with the Akron women's basketball team and instructions from faculty members on the science and engineering behind the game of basketball. Participants will learn the bio-mechanics of how to properly shoot a basketball, the polymer science behind the rubber in basketball shoes, and how to calculate statistics during the game.
