AKRON, Ohio --Â The four-time Mid-American Conference champion Akron swimming and diving team will be hosting three sessions of the Zips Fall Swim Clinic Series on Sunday, Oct. 22, Nov. 5 and Nov. 12, respectively, at Ocasek Natatorium. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 9-17.
The MAC Championship team and staff will provide individualized attention, stroke analysis and swim techniques. The camp includes small group and individual stroke analysis/instruction.
The short and long-axis clinics (freestyle and backstroke) will give swimmers the opportunity to develop and fine-tune various aspects of each stroke. The clinics will also provide swimmers the chance to learn several different techniques to improve each stroke based on individual skill level. The long-axis clinic will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22, while the short-axis clinic will run at the same time on Sunday, Nov. 5.
The starts, turns and breakouts clinic on Sunday, Nov. 12, from 5-7 p.m., will address the three most important parts of the race: the starts, breakouts and turns. The Zips' coaching staff will concentrate on teaching drills and skills that result in faster, more powerful starts and turns as well as maximizing underwater speed.
It is required that participants be able to swim 25 yards of each of the four competitive strokes.
The cost is $60 per clinic, or $150 for all three clinics, due at the time of registration.
