THE BEST RECAP OF THE PAST YEAR IN ZIPS ATHLETICS
…
… is our 2013-14 Annual
Report, which we released today. Special thanks to our
Communications staff for compiling the highlights from the last 12
months in a photo-friendly format with lots of links to videos and
other content so you can relive the memories from the 2013-14
academic year.
ZIPS AT THE WORLD CUP
One of the real joys of my job is seeing and hearing about the
immense pride Zips Nation shows for its own. Everyone I know
was thrilled to watch not just the U.S. Men’s Soccer National
Team but especially DeAndre Yedlin represent us in perhaps the
world’s most popular sporting event. DeAndre always
zipped around Cub Cadet Field at FirstEnergy Stadium with
unbelievable speed during his two years on campus, and it was
incredible to see him do the same against the best players at the
World Cup less than two years removed from wearing the Akron Blue
and Gold. He is the first Zip to participate in the World Cup, but
certainly won’t be the last. We’re proud of you,
DeAndre!
REINVESTING IN OUR FANS
Happy to share our announcement about our Basketball Season Ticket Incentive Program, which is one way in which we are continuing to try to reinvest in our supporters with unique prizes and experiences. The renewal response we received in the first two weeks since announcing this has been outstanding, and all new basketball season ticketholders are eligible as well.
We added this program thanks to the feedback we received from so many of you with our Football Incentives plan, which among other rewards includes one Zips fan plus a guest travelling with our team for each away game this season (the next drawing deadline is tomorrow for the trip to Ohio on Oct. 18).
Congratulations to Paul Antal, Jr., a Men’s Basketball season holder who has renewed for a sixth consecutive year and won the first prize of the Basketball Season Ticket Incentive program: two spots in the 2014 Men’s Basketball Summer Classic Golf Outing on Friday, Aug. 15. Thanks, Paul, for backing the Zips!
Please call our ticket staff at 888-992-5766 (99-AKRON) between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to watch our teams this season!
