Athletics Rebrands its Twitter Handle

AKRON, Ohio — The University of Akron Department of Athletics rebranded its Twitter handle on Wednesday morning. The department will now use @AkronZips.
All followers on the department's original handle – @FollowtheRoo – will automatically be switched over to the new Twitter feed.
The new handle was finally acquired by UA and is a vital part of the department's rebranding efforts which began two years ago with all of its sports' social media accounts. The new @AkronZips Twitter handle now mirrors the Department of Athletics' Facebook account, Facebook.com/AkronZips.
