2014 Basketball Media Day Set for Tuesday, Nov. 4

AKRON, Ohio – Akron basketball head coaches Keith Dambrot and Jodi Kest announced on Thursday that the 2014 Akron Basketball Media Day, presented by Wentz Financial Group, will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4, beginning at 4 p.m. ET inside the Tommy Evans Lounge at James A. Rhodes Arena.
The media day event will include a press conference with members of the men's and women's basketball teams. A live video stream will be available via GoZips.com. Fans not able to watch the stream will be able to listen to it live on Sports Radio 1350 AM (WARF), as well as the iHeart Radio and TuneIn apps.
Coach Dambrot and Coach Kest will address the media regarding the 2014-15 season and will discuss their teams, schedules, the Mid-American Conference and other topics in advance of their respective exhibition games.
Zips fans will be able to participate in the Akron Basketball Media Day by submitting questions for Coach Kest (@ZipsCoachKest), Coach Dambrot (@CoachDambrot) and the student-athletes during the media day event. Fans can submit their questions by tweeting @AkronZips.
Coach Kest, senior Sina King, junior Anita Brown and sophomore Hannah Plybon will open the media day festivities to discuss the upcoming women's basketball season. Following a brief intermission, Coach Dambrot and seniors Deji Ibitayo and Demetrius "Tree" Treadwell, and junior Reggie McAdams will address the media at approximately 4:30 p.m. to discuss the men's campaign.
The event will be the first of many on November 4, which has been designated as a #ZipsBlackout day. The football team will play host to Bowling Green later that night at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field ina matchup for first place in the MAC East Division. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. and the contest will air live on ESPN2.
The men's program opens its season on Monday, Nov. 10, when it plays host to Rochester (Mich.) in the team's lone exhibition contest at Rhodes Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. The Zips will open the regular season at home against UMBC on Friday, Nov. 14, at 8 p.m. following the women's contest against Binghamton.
The women's squad is set to open the 2014-15 season Saturday Nov. 8, when it hosts Ursuline in its only exhibition game at James A. Rhodes Arena. Tipoff is set for 12:00 p.m. Akron opens the regular season at home on Friday, Nov. 14 against Binghamton at 6:00 p.m. as part of the Akron Classic.
