AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron Dance Team posted its best finish in school history at the National Dance Alliance (NDA) Nationals, held April 8-12 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The Zips missed the finals by just 0.02 points. In the consolation competition, called the “Challenge Cup,” the squad finished in third place.
In addition to the overall competition, the Zips finished in 11th place overall in the Hip-Hop Division, the team’s first time in the division.
“Progress is being made in a positive direction and the hard work, dedication, time and effort of these extraordinary women should be praised,” Tori Ung, head coach of the spirit teams said. “They gave up tons of time, gave up their spring break, and practiced on holidays to work towards their goals. The hard work they displayed will continue to positively shape their lives and the dance program for years to come.”
