AKRON, Ohio – Over 200 people filled the
ballroom at The University of Akron's Quaker Station on Friday
night as Zips Athletics inducted the 39th class into its Sports
Hall of Fame, sponsored by the Varsity "A" Association.
The Class of 2013 is made up of Rick Holman (football),
Jeff Lake (football), Kelli Metzger (softball), Kyle Milligan
(soccer), William Terrell Jr. (track) and Mary Varga Stupczy
(track).
Also recognized tonight was Kenneth "Red" Cochran Meritorious
Service Award recipients UA President Dr. Luis Proenza and
University mascot Zippy, along with Mike Krino Varsity "A"
Achievement Award Honoree Lawrence Dessart.
Those nine people take the total in the UA
Varsity "A" Sports Hall of Fame to 371 which includes 308
student-athletes, coaches and administrators, 37 Kenneth "Red"
Cochrane Meritorious Service Award recipients and 26 Mike Krino
Varsity "A" Achievement awardees.

Additionally,
Brian Fisher, President of the Varsity "A" Association, was the
recipient of the Varsity "A" Member of the Year Award.
The Class will be presented at halftime of Saturday's Akron versus
Bowling Green men's
basketball game, which tips off at 7 p.m. ET at James A. Rhodes
Arena.
