Basketball Media Day Set for Oct. 23

AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zips men's and women's basketball programs will hold their annual Akron Basketball Media Day, presented by Wentz Financial Group, on Wednesday beginning at 11:30 a.m. ET inside the Tommy Evans Lounge at James A. Rhodes Arena.
Akron basketball head coaches Keith Dambrot and Jodi Kest, along with select student-athletes, will address the media regarding the 2013-14 season and will discuss their teams, schedules, the Mid-American Conference and other topics in advance of their respective exhibition games.
The event can be viewed live online via mac-sports.com. Fans can also listen to the event live on SportsRadio 1350 AM (WARF), online via iHeartRadio and on your smartphone or mobile device via the iHeartRadio app. Bill Morgan and Steve French will man the airwaves to discuss the upcoming seasons, as well as talk one-on-one with Coach Kest and Coach Dambrot. Joe Dunn will serve as emcee.
Coach Kest and seniors Rachel Tecca and Hanna Luburgh will open the media day festivities at 11:30 a.m. to discuss the upcoming women's basketball season. Shortly after, Bill Morgan and Coach Kest will talk women's basketball in a one-on-one interview.
Coach Dambrot and seniors Nick Harney and Demetrius "Tree" Treadwell, and sophomore Jake Kretzer will address the media at approximately noon to discuss the men's campaign. Steve French and Coach Dambrot will talk men's basketball in a one-on-one setting to close the day's events.
Zips fans will be able to participate in the Akron Basketball Media Day by submitting questions for Coach Kest (@ZipsCoachKest), Coach Dambrot (@CoachDambrot) and the student-athletes during the media day event. Fans can submit their questions by tweeting @FollowtheRoo.
The men's program opens its season on Friday, Nov. 1, when it plays host to Bluffton in an exhibition contest at Rhodes Arena, before opening the season at home against Coastal Carolina on Friday, Nov. 8.
The women's program will play host to Lake Erie in its only exhibition game on Saturday, Nov. 2, before opening the regular season with a home tilt against Florida Atlantic prior to the men's game on Friday, Nov. 8.
