AKRON, Ohio – The Zips men's and women's
basketball teams travel to Quicken Loans Arena in downtown
Cleveland this week for the FirstEnergy Mid-American Conference
Tournament. For the second-straight season the men's program enters
the tournament field as the top seed, while the women's squad comes
in with a program-best third seed.
The women will face either sixth-seeded Miami (Ohio) or
seventh-seeded Buffalo on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. ET, while the men
take on a to-be-determined opponent in the semifinals on Friday at
6:30 p.m. Fans can follow each team's progress through the
championship event by way of the #ZipsGameday page.
Tickets for this week's Zips games are available through the C.P.
and Cornelia S. Chima Athletics Ticket Office at InfoCision Stadium
– Summa Field (located at 375 E. Exchange Street, near Gate 1
at the southwest corner of the venue, at the corner of E. Exchange
and S. Union streets), Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fans
can also call 1-888-99-AKRON (25766).
On Friday, the Chima Athletics Ticket Office will be open from 9
a.m. to 2 p.m., and if the men win on Friday will be open from 9
a.m. to noon on Saturday. On Thursday and Friday (and Saturday with
a win by either the women or men), tickets also will be available
for purchase at the Zips Athletics table in the lobby of the arcade
entrance of Quicken Loans Arena starting two hours prior to tip
off.
Additionally, ticket order forms can be downloaded here and brought in person to the Chima Athletics
Ticket Office or faxed to (330) 972-5527. As the tournament
progresses, patrons will be charged only for the games in which
Akron competes.
Purchasing tickets through the Chima Athletics Ticket Office or at
the Zips Athletics table at the Q is the best way for fans to
ensure they will be seated with other Zips fans. Seating priority
and location will be based on annual Z-Fund donations and date of
order.
Tickets for current UA students to Thursday's women's game are $5,
but are free for those who sign up for the all-inclusive round-trip
bus package that also includes lunch. Tickets for Friday's men's
contest are $10. Student tickets for both games will be on sale
until 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Chima Athletics Ticket Office.
Students who purchase a ticket to the men's game will receive a
complimentary t-shirt (while supplies last). T-shirts will be
handed out at the Q prior to the game.
The Clevelander Sports Bar & Grill (834 Huron Road),
located within walking distance of the Q, is the official pre- and
post-game headquarters for Zips fans. The restaurant, located one
block east of the arena on Huron and E. 9th Street, will offer food
and drink specials throughout the week starting two-hours prior to
tip off of any UA tournament game.
