PNC WAGON WHEEL CHALLENGE SATURDAY
It's Kent State week for our football team and we're excited to
take on the Golden Flashes in the annual Battle for the Wagon Wheel
at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
We need you in the stands supporting our team as we look to regain
possession of the coveted wooden wheel these two programs have
played for since 1946. The game will be televised on Time Warner
Cable SportsChannel and ESPN3.
Among the many festivities planned for Saturday is Jim
Dennison Day, during which we will honor our winningest
Football head coach in a pregame reception and through various ways
during the game. We are looking forward to welcoming back more than
200 former players and assistant coaches who are returning for this
game to honor Coach Dennison and his wife, Sue.
Saturday also will be Youth Football Day and Military Appreciation
Day, while Zips Fest will feature Zippy's Chili Cookoff and a Hoppy
Hour event. Click here for more information about each of these
activities. Saturday is also Fall Visit Day for the University for high
school juniors and seniors and, thanks to a University-wide effort
spearheaded by our admissions office, we will have a record number
of prospective students and their families on campus.
Tickets are available on ZipsTickets.com or by calling our ticket office at
1-888-99-AKRON (25766).
Including one point being up for grabs in the Football game
against Kent State, 3.5 points are on the line Saturday in the
annual PNC Wagon Wheel Challenge standings as Volleyball
plays at KSU at 7 p.m. (for one half point) and Men's and Women's
Cross Country competes in the Mid-American Conference Championships
that morning (one point apiece for the men and women) (more
below).
MAC CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
Men's and Women's Cross Country begin
postseason competition on Saturday in Bowling Green, Ohio, at the
MAC Championships. The Men's race starts at 11 a.m., and the
Women's at noon.
The Men look to build off their All-Ohio Championship earlier this month.

Country with Head Coach Lee LaBadie to learn more about the
teams and this weekend's races.
MEN'S AND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL START EXHIBITION
PLAY
Both Men's and Women's Basketball, each named preseason favorites
to win their division, start their seasons with exhibition games at
James A. Rhodes Arena this weekend. The Men's team goes against
Bluffton on Friday at 7 p.m., and the Women's team faces Lake Erie
on Saturday at noon.
Both games will be video streamed and broadcast locally on SportsRadio1350.com (1350 AM) and nationally on iHeartRadio.
Both teams start their regular season at home with a doubleheader
on Friday, Nov. 8. The Women face Florida Atlantic at 5:30 p.m.,
and the Men tip off against Coastal Carolina at 8 p.m.
Throughout the evening, the Men will be honored for their MAC
regular-season and tournament titles, and the Women for their MAC
East Division championship. We will have celebratory giveaways for
fans that day – mini banners commemorating the Women's
championship and replica rings recognizing the Men's titles.
Season and single-game tickets as well as mini plans are available
on ZipsTickets.com or
by calling our ticket office at 1-888-99-AKRON (25766).
