WE NEED YOU ... FOR THE SOCCER MATCH
TOMORROW!
After sweeping the Mid-American Conference regular-season and
tournament championships, Men's Soccer continues its journey toward
claiming a #2ndStar on Thursday when it hosts Indiana, the defending National Champion, in the
opening round of the NCAA Tournament at 7 p.m. at FirstEnergy
Stadium – Cub Cadet Field. The winner will advance to
face No. 9-seed Marquette on the road Sunday at 6 p.m.
We need you there to create the home field advantage our team has
come to know. Tickets are available on ZipsTickets.com or by calling our ticket office
at 1-888-99-AKRON (25766).
We distributed 500 student tickets for the match and bought an
additional 250. UA students may pick up their ticket from the
Ticket Office and other campus locations with valid ID (while
supplies last). Once the allotment has been distributed, students
can buy them for $1.
The match will be video streamed and broadcast locally on SportsRadio1350.com (1350 AM) and nationally on iHeartRadio.
Be sure to watch this week's edition of Zips Men's
Soccer with Head Coach Jared Embick for a recap of last
weekend's MAC Tournament and a preview of Thursday's meeting with
the Hoosiers.
In case you missed it, watch this GoZips.com
interview with Coach Embick held minutes after the completion of
Monday's NCAA Selection Show.
FOOTBALL ON A ROLL
Football, which defeated Massachusetts 14-13 on Saturday,
has won two-straight and three of its last four games to achieve
its highest win total since 2008. Thanks to everyone who was in
Foxborough over the weekend to cheer on the team as we found a way
to pull out our third MAC victory of the year.
The team returns home for the season finale and Senior Day on
Friday, Nov. 29 versus Toledo (the day after Thanksgiving). We announced on Sunday that the game will kick off at noon
and be covered by ESPN3. We look forward to seeing you in the
stands at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field.
Tickets are available on ZipsTickets.com or by calling our ticket office at
1-888-99-AKRON (25766).
CONGRATS TO MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Men's Cross Country finished its season by earning a program-best ninth-place finish at last week's
NCAA Great Lakes Regional, held in Madison, Wisc. Brad Hough
and Clayton Murphy paced the team, with 33rd- and 43rd-place times,
respectively. Kyle Cochrun (53rd), Trevor Norris (61st) and Aaron
Howkins (93rd) rounded out the Zips' top-five runners.
Last Friday's performance closed out a record-breaking season for
the Men, who posted their best-ever finish of second place at
the MAC Championships earlier this month and a
first-place score at the All-Ohio Championships in October.
