MEN'S SOCCER HOSTS MAC TOURNAMENT
Congratulations to Men's Soccer on its ninth-straight Mid-American
Conference regular-season championship!
We defeated Western Michigan 2-1 in the final minutes of
double overtime on Saturday and earned the right to host the league
tournament yet again tonight and Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium
– Cub Cadet Field.
We are ranked No. 8 in the nation, and as the tournament's top
seed, will face fourth-seeded West Virginia tonight at
7, with second-seeded Western Michigan and third-seeded
Hartwick playing at 4 p.m. The winners of those two contests will
meet in the championship match on Sunday at 1 p.m. All three
matches will be video streamed.
Tickets are available on ZipsTickets.com or by calling our ticket office at
1-888-99-AKRON (25766).
MEN'S SOCCER SELECTION SHOW WATCH PARTY
The University will host an NCAA
Men's Soccer Selection Show Watch Party at the Student Union on
Monday, starting at 11:30 a.m. We are inviting everyone –
students, faculty, staff and fans – to come and watch as the
field of 48 teams is announced at noon on a video stream that will
be projected on screens in front of the Union Market on the second
floor.
As part of the event, all Union Market patrons will receive a free
fountain drink with any food purchase greater than $1 from 11:30
a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
We hope to see you there to help the team kick off its
seventh-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
VOLLEYBALL CLOSES SEASON WITH WEEKEND
HOMESTAND
Volleyball, which owns a two-match win streak, closes out the regular season with a two-match homestand
this weekend at James A. Rhodes Arena. The team takes on
Bowling Green tonight at 7, and Miami (Ohio) on Saturday at 5 p.m.
Saturday will be Senior Night and Alex Cocklin, Jill Paluch and
Alex Wiederhold will be honored in a special presentation after the
match.
The team claimed two impressive wins last weekend at home over Buffalo and Ball State. Ball State came into the game leading the
league's West Division and we avenged a loss earlier in the season
at Buffalo.
FRIDAY NIGHT PARKING ADVISORY
Along with the Volleyball match and MAC Men's Soccer Tournament on
campus tonight, we are also excited to be hosting a high school
football playoff game at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field.
The game between Highland and Massillon will start at 7:30, and is
expected to draw a large crowd. We want people coming to our events
to be aware of the best place to park to avoid the football
traffic.
Soccer fans are strongly encouraged to use the Exchange Street
Parking Deck (Lot 39) (205 E. Exchange St.) and the South Campus
Parking Deck (Lot 36) (261 E. Exchange St.). Volleyball fans should
park in surface Lots 4 and 13 along Carroll Street near Rhodes
Arena. Click here to view a campus parking map.
Parking is free for Men's Soccer and Volleyball.
FOOTBALL RESUMES SCHEDULE AT UMASS
After a week off from competition, and some extra time to enjoy
having the Wagon Wheel back in our possession following a win over
Kent State on Nov. 2, Football is back in action versus Massachusetts on
Saturday at 1 p.m. We look forward to seeing many of you in the
stands at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough cheering us on.
If you are unable to make the trip, you can watch on ESPN3 or listen locally on SportsRadio1350.com (1350 AM) and nationally on iHeartRadio.
The team returns home for the season finale and Senior Day on
Friday, Nov. 29 versus Toledo (the day after Thanksgiving). A game
time should be announced early next week, pending a television
assignment. Keep an eye on GoZips.com or our official Twitter feed, @ZipsFB, for
updates.

THANK YOU, BASKETBALL FANS
Thanks to everyone who attended our Men's and Women's Basketball
regular-season opening doubleheader Friday at Rhodes Arena. Both
teams posted victories, the Men 72-63 over Coastal Carolina and the Women 98-69 versus Florida Atlantic, and there was
plenty of energy and excitement in the building as we celebrated
each program's championship season from a year ago.
A number of fans took advantage of the opportunity to take a
photograph with the Wagon Wheel in the lobby before the game. Coach
Bowden and some of the senior Football players showed off the Wheel
to the fans on the court during a timeout in the first half of the
Men's game. Click here to view a gallery of our fans posing
with the Wheel.
Speaking of the Wagon Wheel, we lead our rival, 3-2, in the PNC
Wagon Wheel Challenge, thanks to winning our Football game versus Kent State and finishing better than the Flashes in both Men's and
Women's Cross Country at the MAC Championships.
