GREETINGS FROM SUNNY ORLANDO
I'm writing today from our hotel in Orlando where Football is
preparing for its season opener tonight against UCF. Kickoff is at
7 o'clock and you can watch on ESPN3 or listen to Steve French, Brad Detwiler
and Joe Dunn on the Akron-IMG Sports Network.
I hope to see everyone at our home opener next Saturday, Sept. 7
when we face James Madison at InfoCision Stadium – Summa
Field at 6 p.m.
Season and single-game tickets as well as mini-plans are on sale,
and can be purchased online anytime at ZipsTickets.com, or from 9
a.m. to 5 p.m. ET on Mondays through Fridays by either calling
1-888-99-AKRON (25766) or visiting The C.P. and Cornelia S. Chima
Athletics Ticket Office at InfoCision Stadium - Summa Field.
OTHER FALL SPORTS UNDERWAY, TOO
Football is not the only sport getting its season underway this
week. Men's Soccer will compete in a tournament at the College of
Charleston and Volleyball will be at a tournament hosted by
SIU-Edwardsville over the weekend.
Women's Soccer started its campaign last weekend, and went 1-1 at
the Boilermaker Cup at Purdue, including a 4-1 victory versus North Dakota. The team
is on the road this weekend as well.
BASKETBALL SEASON TICKET RENEWAL REMINDER
As you get ready for the Football and Soccer seasons, please be
reminded that the season ticket renewal deadline for Men's
Basketball is tomorrow (Friday, Aug. 30). If you have not already
done so, please click here to renew online or call our ticket office
at 1-888-99-AKRON (25766) Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m.
We will be announcing the 2013-14 schedule soon.
SCHEDULE CHANGE
Another reminder about two changes to the home Men's
Soccer schedule this year, which occurred after tickets and
marketing materials were printed.
The time for our game against San Diego State on Sunday, Sept. 15
as part of our annual tournament has been changed to 1 p.m. Also,
our game against Bowling Green has been moved to Saturday, Sept. 21
at 1 p.m., after originally being scheduled for the day before.
Tickets listing different dates or start times for these matches
will be accepted at the new dates and times.
Please be reminded that weekday home games in 2013 will start at 7
p.m. In recent season's those contests kicked off at 7:30 p.m.
